Meet the owners
Ariela Gottschalk brings 20 years of experience in growing vegetables, flowers, and nursery plants as farm manager for Growing Grounds Farm-Santa Maria, a program of the Transitions-Mental Health Association. Many of you have purchased the veggie starts she’s been bringing to the stand over the years.
Jeff Pienack, an avid surfer and environmental activist, spent 8 years as the SLO County chapter chair for Surfrider Foundation, working on water quality and conservation issues. Now, he likes to say he is the “farmer’s wife,”
Their daughter, Olivia, is a 8th grader at Paulding Middle School.

One big Family
Our field and farm stand crews are hard-working, fun and friendly! Many have worked on the farm a decade or more with lots of food and farming knowledge they are happy to share.
Leading the crews are owners Ariela and Jeff whose focus is to provide outstanding locally-grown produce while building community.
